the workshop

Become more mindful of your device use and learn healthy tech habits through our 75-minute workshop, available for anyone ages 12 and up. The workshop is perfect for:

  • Schools

  • Corporations 

  • Community Organizations

  • Families

  • And more!

The workshop encourages participants to think about our interactions with the persuasive tech that surrounds us and consider how we might reshape our relationships with our devices. We read brief passages from thought leaders, share our experiences, and discuss our ideas and insights. In doing so, we aim to take more control our phones and make our own choices.

 

The workshop assists us in celebrating our successes, supporting one another in our challenges, and finding new ways to connect with the people around us. We explore interests, hobbies, and crafts, finding new activities to do with our hands as we enjoy slow media like movies, shows, podcasts, books, and music -- instead of double-screening. 

The workshop is not anti-tech. Rather, it helps participants deal with the constant distractions, rebuild our attention spans, and assert our power over social media and doomscrolling. Instead of mindless consumers, we seek to become active, engaged individuals who make informed decisions about technology usage.

The workshop builds awareness and agency. We realize we're not alone as we relate to others who have experienced similar exhaustion and emotional drain from our devices. We seek balance, always appreciating the benefits of our tech while reducing the harm it can cause. 

In 75 minutes, our dis/connect adult leaders and teen ambassadors can guide participants in the next steps of their own digital wellness journeys, one weekly micro-goal at a time. Every workshop is an opportunity to reset our relationship with our phones.
